The purpose of the NMA Membership Committee is to promote membership, attendance at meetings, and participation in activities.
Membership Committee Plan
Objectives
- Increase membership
- Increase participation in chapter activities
- Assure communications among members and candidates for membership concerning chapter activities, policies, and plans
- Identify and resolve membership concerns
- Promote the mutual interests of the chapter, parent organization, and NMA
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy a recruiting strategy to increase membership
- Contact former chapter members to encourage renewal
- Target retirees for membership in accordance with the revised chapter eligibility rules
- Contact and encourage employees who have achieved, or who are pursuing, the Certified Manager/Associate Certified Manager designation to join the chapter
- Coordinate the June Membership Bash
- Distribute new member certificates/pins at membership meetings
- Recognize new members in the East Tennessee Leadership Chapter newsletter
- Assign Membership Committee members to greet NMA members and guests at monthly meetings
- Update membership name tags for preferred names
- Develop and implement innovative approaches to communicate chapter services to members
- Update NMA Membership Application and Information Sheet
- Update the East Tennessee Leadership Chapter Handbook
- Request members to complete an NMA Membership Application and Information Sheet in order to update chapter records
- Conduct at least one membership survey during the year; evaluate the results; and channel suggestions to the appropriate committees, officers, and members of the board of directors
- Be alert to members’ concerns and forward as appropriate
- Develop methods to promote mutual interests
